SEO Strategies For Small Businesses in Atlanta GA Part II

KEYWORDS

Keywords are the words that prospective customers search for when looking for a service or product. Following our previous example in part 1 with the plumber, if we did a search for “leaky faucet atlanta” I would come up with a list of plumbers (hopefully) in Atlanta, GA that I could choose from.

So how do I know which keywords people use to find what they are looking for? While we have our own procedures here at Atlanta Web Pros, you can simply do a search in Google for “find keywords” and see what you come up with. There are many resources out there.

Once you have a nice list of popular search terms (keywords) for your product or service, you need to ensure that your site has these keywords in the content.

Before creating a new page for your site choose one main focus-keyword and 2 less important keywords for that page. Use a title and a subtitle that includes your keywords and include those keywords in a title and or subtitle.

There are many questions out there regarding the use of keywords. How many times the keyword should be repeated on the page or what should be a keyword density. While there is no magic number that you must follow the list below will give you a pretty good guide to follow to increase a chance of getting to the 1st page of Google and other search engines:

It’s not required to follow all these recommendations but the more you use, the better it is for SEO. Remember if the most popular term searched for is plumbing repair atlanta, and you site does not have that term anywhere in the content, then Google is not going to direct anyone to your site.

Remember also that you can abuse keywords. Do Not use them too often in any one area. 2-4 times on each page, including the titles and descriptions is more than enough.
